Commercial Metals Company (CMC) wants to steel the limelight. CMC's Americas Fabrication and Distribution segment buys and sells primary and secondary metals, fabricated metals, and other industrial metals. The fabrication unit runs a heat treating plant and makes steel fence posts, steel beams, and steel joists. Its Americas Mills segment makes steel products for the construction, energy, petrochemical, and transportation industries, along with copper tubing. CMC's Americas Recycling unit operates 48 secondary metals processing plants that shred, shear, and pulverize scrap metal, which is then sold to steel mills and non-ferrous ingot producers. More than half of the company's sales are in the US.
