If you lived in a Clayton you'd be home right now. A Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, Clayton Homes builds one- and two-story modular and manufactured houses that range in price from $20,000 to more than $130,000 for upscale models and range in size from around 700 to more than 3,000 sq. ft. The homes are built at about 35 plants and distributed across the US through a network of about 1,800 mostly independent, but also company-owned retailers. Clayton's homes often contain products from fellow Berkshire Hathaway companies such as Shaw flooring, Johns Manville insulation and MiTek fasteners. Clayton Homes also owns financing, loan-servicing, and insurance subsidiaries.
