The Tin Man never would have rusted had he been built with metal from Carpenter Technology. The company makes a variety of corrosion-resistant materials; most of its sales come from stainless steel products and alloys that provide special heat- or wear-resistance or special magnetic or conductive properties. Finished products come in billet, bar, rod, wire, and other forms. Carpenter also makes titanium products, engineered ceramic products, and tool and other specialty steels. Customers include companies in the aerospace, automotive, medical, and industrial markets. The aerospace sector Carpenter's largest market, accounting for more than 40% of its business.
