Buckeye Partners serves the Buckeye State and then some. Its main subsidiary, Buckeye Pipe Line, stretches 2,643 miles from Massachusetts to Illinois. Other pipelines include Laurel Pipe Line (Pennsylvania), Everglades Pipe Line (Florida), and Wood River Pipe Lines (Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Ohio). It owns a major natural gas storage facility in northern California (33 billion cu. ft. capacity); and markets refined petroleum products in a number of the geographic areas served by its pipeline and terminal operations. Expanding its portfolio, in 2008 it acquired Farm & Home Oil 's wholesale and retail energy services operations (refined products distribution in the Northeast) for $146 million.
