Black Hills is alive with the sound of energy. Its Black Hills Power utility unit distributes electricity to 69,000 customers in Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming, while its Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power unit serves 39,800 electric customers and 33,300 natural gas customers in the greater Cheyenne area. Its Black Hills Energy segment serves 524,000 natural gas customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska, and 93,300 electricity customers in Colorado. Black Hills' power plants produce more than 1,000 MW a year. The company's wholesale segment is engaged in coal mining, power generation, oil and gas production (185.4 billion cu. ft. of natural gas reserves in 2008), and energy marketing.
