(b) Departure of Executive Officer.

On January 23, 2013, Lam Research Corporation (the "Company") announced that Ernest E. Maddock, the Company's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will be leaving the Company. Mr. Maddock's last day with the Company is expected to be April 19, 2013. Mr. Maddock will remain as Chief Financial Officer of the Company until a successor is in place, and will remain available as necessary thereafter to insure a smooth transition. Mr. Maddock's departure is not related to any disagreement with the Company, including with respect to any accounting-related policy or matter.
