Item 2.02 Results of Operations and Financial Condition.

On January 13, 2013, Health Management Associates, Inc. (the "Company") issued a press release (i) previewing its operating results for the three months and year ended December 31, 2012 and (ii) announcing certain of its financial and operational objectives for the year ending December 31, 2013.

The Company's press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K.



Item 8.01 Other Events.

Gary D. Newsome terminated his previously disclosed pre-arranged stock trading plan that was established in accordance with Rule 10b5-1 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Mr. Newsome is a director of the Company, as well as its President and Chief Executive Officer.
