On December 24, 2012, Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. issued a press release announcing that, on December 21, 2012, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration approved JUXTAPID™ (lomitapide) capsules as an adjunct to a low-fat diet and other lipid-lowering treatments, including LDL apheresis where available, to reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and non-high-density-lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
