Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Officers.

On December 17, 2012, First Niagara Financial Group, Inc. announced that Daniel E. Cantara III was promoted to serve as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer, responsible for oversight and leadership of all customer-facing businesses at the regional bank.
