Item 8.01 Other Events.

First Interstate BancSystem, Inc. (the "Registrant") today announced that its Board of Directors declared an accelerated quarterly dividend to common shareholders of $0.13 per share to be paid on December 17, 2012 to shareholders of record as of December 3, 2012. This accelerated quarterly dividend is intended to be in lieu of the quarterly dividend which would have been declared in January 2013.
