ITEM 8.01 Other Events.

On September 29, 2012, Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. ("Synta") issued a press release announcing updated results from the Phase 2b portion of the GALAXY trial, a randomized Phase 2b/3 study designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Synta's lead Hsp90 inhibitor, ganetespib, in combination with standard-of-care docetaxel vs. docetaxel alone as second-line treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer, which were presented on September 29, 2012 in a poster session at the European Society for Medical Oncology 2012 Congress in Vienna, Austria. A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and is incorporated herein by reference.
