On July 26, 2012, The Empire District Electric Company issued a press release indicating that its Board of Directors had declared a third quarter cash dividend of $0.25 per share of common stock payable on September 15, 2012 to stockholders of record as of September 1, 2012. As September 1, 2012 falls on a Saturday, the effective record date for the dividend will be the close of business on Friday, August 31, 2012.
