On October 30, 2009, H. Wayne Brafford, a named executive officer of International Paper Company (the "Company"), notified the Company he plans to retire as of December 31, 2009. Mr. Brafford currently serves as Senior Vice President, Printing and Communications Papers and has been an employee of the Company since 1975.
