deCODE genetics, Inc. ("deCODE") will not make the scheduled October 15 interest payment on its outstanding 3.5% Convertible Notes due 2011. Failure to pay such interest within thirty (30) days after October 15 would be an event of default under the terms of the indentures securing the notes.
