On October 2, 2009, SciClone Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ("SciClone") issued a press release, attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference herein in its entirety, in which SciClone announced the discontinuation of the randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind Phase 2 trial that evaluated RP101-a nucleoside analog known as BVdU-for the treatment of late-stage pancreatic cancer.
