Item 8.01 Other Events.

On September 29, 2009, Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (Huntington or the Company) announced the appointment of Daniel J. Neumeyer as executive vice president and chief credit officer.

In this role, he will be responsible for credit administration, credit policy and credit approval across the company. The appointment will become effective October 5, 2009.

A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
