On August 5, 2009, First State Bancorporation issued a press release announcing the retention of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods as a financial advisor to the Corporation for the review of strategic alternatives to en-hance shareholder value, including the possibility of entering into a business combination with a strategic partner. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
