On July 8, 2009, Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (the "Company") issued a news release which reported earnings for the third quarter ended May 30, 2009, and other matters relating to the Company's plans, operations and financial condition. The Company also updated its earnings guidance for the fiscal year ending August 29, 2009. A copy of the news release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated herein by reference.
