Office Depot, Inc. (the "Company") is saddened to report that Mr. Michael J. Myers, a member of the Company's Board of Directors, died on Wednesday July 1, 2009. Mr. Myers served on the Company's Board since 1987 and was a member of the Audit Committee of the Board.

The Company's Board has not nominated anyone to fill Mr. Myers' position on the Board.
