Item 8.01. Other Events

On June 17, 2009, Buckeye Technologies Inc. announced plans with the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and Myriant Technologies LLC (formed by BioEnergy International, LLC) for a research and demonstration plant that will explore ways to harness byproducts from some of the most promising cellulosic ethanol techniques to make environmentally friendly versions of petroleum products.
