On June 4, 2009, Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (the "Company") issued a news release that reported sales for its third fiscal quarter ended May 30, 2009 (the "third quarter"). The Company also updated its earnings guidance for the third quarter. A copy of the news release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated herein by reference.
