Explanatory Note Regarding This Amendment:

This Amendment No. 1 to the Form 8-K originally filed by United Therapeutics Corporation (the "Company") with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 6, 2009 (the "Form 8-K"), is being filed in order to correct errors contained in the Form 8-K. No other changes have been made to the Form 8-K.

The corrections are as follows:

The Form 8-K reported that Dr. Roger Jeffs' annual base salary remains unchanged at $675,000. Dr. Jeffs' annual base salary remains unchanged at $710,000.

The Form 8-K reported that Mr. Paul Mahon's annual base salary remains unchanged at $585,000. Mr. Mahon's annual base salary remains unchanged at $615,000.
