Item 8.01. Other Events

On April 21, 2009, UMB Financial Corporation (the "Company")issued a press release announcing that the Board of Directors had declared a cash dividend of $0.175 per share, payable on July 1, 2009 to shareholders of record as June 11, 2009.

In the press release the Company also reported that the Board of Directors has authorized the purchase of up to two million shares of the Company's common stock during the next twelve months. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1.
