Ameritrans Capital Corporation (the "Company") issued a press release to the news media announcing that the Company learned that the SEC froze assets of Vibrant Capital Corp. ("Vibrant") due to an alleged scheme. Vibrant had previously entered into a business venture with the Company concerning life settlement contracts. Ameritrans is presently attempting to determine the impact of these SEC actions on its investment in this business venture and on its rights, interests and obligations in connection therewith.

A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated herein by reference.
