On February 10, 2009, BankAtlantic Bancorp, Inc. (the "Company") issued a press release announcing its financial results for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2008. In addition to financial results determined in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles ("GAAP"), the press release also contains financial information determined by methods other than in accordance with GAAP. The Company's management uses these non-GAAP measures, which it defines as "core operating earnings" in their analysis of the Company's performance. These "core operating earnings" measures adjust GAAP pre-tax income to exclude the impact of goodwill impairment, provision for loan and tax certificate losses, impairments, restructuring charges, and exit activities. The Company believes that these non-GAAP "core operating earnings" measures supplement our GAAP financial information and provide useful measures of evaluating the Company's operating results and any related trends that may be affecting the Company's business. These disclosures should not be viewed as a substitute for operating results determined in accordance with GAAP, nor are they necessarily comparable to non-GAAP performance measures that may be presented by other companies.
