Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure
Helicos BioSciences Corporation ("Helicos" or the "Company") is preparing to
place a HelicosTM Genetic Analysis System ("System") at The Broad Institute (the
"Broad"). The System will be provided to the Broad at no cost and is expected
to be delivered and installed in early 2009.
Based on recent improvements to the Company's single molecule sequencing
chemistry and other System improvements, as of December 2008, the System has
been shown to be capable of achieving sequencing performance in the range of
approximately 100-140 megabases per hour with DNA samples, median read lengths
of 33 bases and approximate total error rates of 5% (0.5% substitution error
rate).
