Provident Financial Services, Inc. (the "Company") announced that it will not make application to participate in the Capital Purchase Program, which is part of the federal government's Troubled Asset Relief Program. A copy of the Company's news release dated November 10, 2008 is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and is being furnished to the SEC and shall not be deemed "filed" for any purpose.
