Item 7.01. Regulation FD Disclosure.

During a press conference held Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Beijing, People's Republic of China, Caterpillar Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James W. Owens updated previously announced guidance for 2008 that total sales and revenues would be about $50 billion. In response to questions received, Owens indicated that Caterpillar expects total sales and revenues for 2008 to top $50 billion.
