Horace Mann Educators Corporation Named Executive Officer Annualized Salary

On May 21, 2008, the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of Horace Mann Educators Corporation (the "Company") approved an increase in salary effective July 1, 2008 for one of the Company's Named Executive Officers:
Paul D. Andrews, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services. A current Summary of Horace Mann Educators Corporation Named Executive Officer Annualized Salary is attached as Exhibit 10.1.

Agreement with a Former Named Executive Officer

On May 21, 2008, the Company entered into a Waiver and Release Agreement with a former Named Executive Officer, Frank D'Ambra III, wherein Mr. D'Ambra will receive a separation payment of $65,000.00 and will be on a paid leave of absence through December 31, 2008. The Waiver and Release Agreement will be filed as an exhibit to the Company's Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ended June 30, 2008.
