Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
On January 14, 2008, Frits van Paasschen notified Jones Apparel Group, Inc. (the
"Company") of his decision not to stand for re-election to the Company's Board
of Directors at its 2008 Annual Stockholders Meeting. Mr. van Paasschen advised
the Company that his decision resulted from the heightened time and travel
demands attending his position as President and Chief Executive Officer of
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., a position he assumed in September
2007.
