Its lead product candidates, GEM OS1 (bone graft) and GEM OS2 (injectable bone graft), use recombinant human Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (rhPDGF-BB), a naturally occurring wound healing stimulator in the body to start the tissue regeneration process. The company’s product candidates, which also incorporate rhPDGF-BB in combination with a bone matrix, are targeted to be used in the open (surgical) treatment of fractures and fusions, the closed (non surgical) treatment of fractures, and the stimulation of bone formation at sites of risk for fracture, such as the spine in individuals with osteoporosis. The company also develops GEM OS2 for local bone augmentation for osteoporosis, as well as for prophylactic vertebral compression fracture.
