It operates in two segments, VITAS and Roto-Rooter. The VITAS segment offers hospice services for patients with severe and life-limiting illnesses. It also provides routine home care, inpatient care, and continuous care services, as well as offers spiritual and emotional counseling to patients and their families through its team of doctors, nurses, home health aids, social workers, clergy, and volunteers. The Roto-Rooter segment provides repair and maintenance services, including plumbing and sewer, and drain and pipe cleaning to residential and commercial customers through company-owned and operated territories, independent contractor-operated territories, and franchised locations. It also manufactures and sells products and equipment used to provide such services. Chemed Corporation was founded in 1970 and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
