It operates through four segments: U.S. Property and Casualty, International Operations, Broadspire, and Legal Settlement Administration. The U.S. Property and Casualty segment provides claims management services in the United States principally to insurance companies, which customarily manage their own claims administration function, but often rely upon third party service providers for the various services which the company provides, primarily with respect to the field investigation and evaluation of property and casualty insurance claims. The International Operations segment provides field investigation and evaluation of property and casualty insurance claims. The risk categories and primary related services offered by the it include property and casualty; oil, energy, and engineering; environmental pollution; construction; catastrophe; marine; specie and fine art; banking, financial, and political risks; livestock; reinsurance; and medical and vocational case management services. The Broadspire segment offers workers’ compensation, auto, and general liability claims management; medical and field case management; integrated workers’ compensation and disability management programs; and risk and safety consulting services. The Legal Settlement Administration segment provides legal settlement administration services related to settlements of securities cases, product liability cases, bankruptcy noticing and distribution, and other legal settlements. This segment offers litigation support services, flexible technologies and analytical tools, customized plans, assessment on various administration options, and strategic guidance with accountable measures. As of December 31, 2008, the company operated approximately700 locations in 63 countries worldwide. Crawford & Company was founded in 1941 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
