It offers Ferumoxytol, an iron replacement therapeutic for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in chronic kidney disease patients; Feridex I.V., a liver contrast agent; and GastroMARK, an oral contrast agent for delineating the bowel in MRI. The company’s products also include Combidex, an investigational functional molecular imaging agent consisting of iron oxide nanoparticles for use with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to aid in the differentiation of cancerous from normal lymph nodes. It has a license and marketing agreement, and supply agreement with Bayer, granting Bayer a product license and marketing rights to Feridex I.V. in the United States and Canada; a manufacturing and distribution agreement with Covidien granting Covidien a product license and co-marketing rights to GastroMARK in the United States, Canada, and Mexico; and an agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. to develop and market rights to Combidex. The company was founded in 1981. It was formerly known as Advanced Magnetics, Inc. and changed its name to AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2007.
