The company also manufactures optical encoders used to measure rotational and linear movements of parts in diverse applications, such as printers, sorting machinery, machine tools, robots, medical equipment, tunable lasers, and spectrum analyzers in the aerospace and defense, industrial, computer peripheral manufacturing, medical, and telecommunications sectors, as well as provides fiber optic-based encoders for various applications, including airborne navigational systems, anti-lock braking transducers, missile flight surface controls, and high temperature process control equipment. In addition, it produces engineered fractional horsepower permanent magnet DC and brushless DC motors used in mobile HVAC systems, actuation systems, and specialty and general purpose pumps; and manufactures fractional and integral horsepower gear motors and motor part sets primarily to original equipment manufacturers. Further, the company offers small precision electric motors, including brushless DC, coreless DC, iron core DC, and permanent magnet stepper and synchronous motors, as well as a range of reduction gearboxes. Allied Motion distributes its products through its sales force, independent sales representatives, agents, and distributors primarily in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
