In addition, it offers fiber optic communications, Ethernet services, and data center facilities, as well as builds, manages, and leases communications towers in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia; and services contracts on home appliances, and heating and air conditioning units. SCANA Corporation also holds an investment in a company, which owns and operates a cogeneration facility in Charleston, South Carolina; and provides tower site construction, management, and rental services in South Carolina and North Carolina. As of December 31, 2007, the company provided electricity to approximately 639,300 customers; and natural gas to approximately 759,700 customers. It also marketed natural gas to approximately 475,000 retail customers. SCANA Corporation also owned and operated a 500 mile fiber optic telecommunications network and Ethernet network, and data center facilities in South Carolina; and through joint venture held interest in an additional 1,742 miles of fiber in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
