The company’s Launch Vehicles segment develops and produces interceptor launch vehicles for missile defense systems; target launch vehicles for the development and testing of missile defense systems; and space launch vehicles for placing satellites into low-Earth orbit. Its Satellites and Space Systems segment offers communications satellites that provide cable and direct-to-home television distribution, business data network connectivity, regional mobile telephony, and other space-based communications services; and science and technology satellites that are used to conduct space-related scientific research, to carry out interplanetary and other deep-space exploration missions, to demonstrate new space technologies, to collect imagery and other remotely-sensed data, and to enable national security applications. This segment also provides various space technical services, including satellite command and data handling; attitude control and structural subsystems; and analytical, engineering, and production services for space-related science and defense programs. The company’s Advanced Space Programs segment provides advanced human-rated systems that are used in Earth orbit, lunar, and other space missions; advanced launch vehicle systems, including launchers used to boost research test vehicles and platforms used to test new space technologies; and national security space systems used for national security space missions and related technology demonstration programs.
