Media General, Inc., a communications company, provides news, information, and entertainment through various channels in the United States. It operates in three segments: Publishing, Broadcast, and Interactive Media. The Publishing segment offers daily and Sunday newspapers in Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, and South Carolina. It publishes 24 daily newspapers, including The Tampa Tribune, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Winston-Salem Journal; and approximately 250 weekly newspapers and other targeted publications. The Broadcast segment owns and operates 18 network-affiliated television stations. The Interactive Media segment primarily provides online news, information, and entertainment. This segment comprises approximately 75 online enterprises and 3 interactive advertising services companies. The company has a strategic alliance with Yahoo, Inc. to deliver classified advertising to consumers. Media General was founded in 1879 and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
