Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, rents and leases vehicles through company owned and franchised stores under Dollar and the Thrifty brand names primarily in the United States and Canada. It also operates a franchised retail used car sales network. The company provides vehicle leasing for use in the daily vehicle rental business, sales and marketing programs, reservations, data processing systems, and insurance services to its franchisees. It also offers various products and services, including branded supplies, training, rental rate management analysis, and customer satisfaction programs to its franchises. The company serves leisure customers, including foreign tourists, as well as small, government, and independent business travelers. As of December 31, 2007, it had 831 locations in the U.S. and Canada of which 466 were company-owned stores and 365 were franchised stores. The company was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
