The company operates in three segments: Shrink Management Solutions, Intelligent Labels, and Retail Merchandising. The Shrink Management Solutions segment offers electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems to control the problem of merchandise theft in retail stores. It also markets a line of reusable security tags that protect apparel items, as well as entertainment products. In addition, this segment provides a line of closed-circuit television products comprising fixed and high-speed pan/tilt/zoom camera systems, programmable switcher controls, time-lapse recording, and remote video surveillance, as well as fire and intrusion systems that offers life safety and property protection. The Intelligent Labels segment provides EAS labels that produce EAS radio frequency and EAS electromagnetic labels, which work in combination with its EAS systems to control the problem of merchandise theft in retail stores; Check-Net that supplies customers with customized retail apparel tags and labels, as well as offers integrated branding, barcode, and EAS security tags; and intelligent library systems, as well as radio frequency identification tags and labels. The Retail Merchandising segment includes hand-held label applicators and tags, promotional displays, and queuing systems. The company primarily serves supermarkets, drug stores, mass merchandisers, music/electronics, and apparel market using its direct sales force and independent network of resellers. Checkpoint Systems has a strategic sales and marketing alliance with 3M Library Systems. The company was founded in 1969 and is based in Thorofare, New Jersey.
