(NYSE:TER) Teradyne, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, development, manufacture, sale, and servicing of automatic test equipment for the semiconductor industry worldwide. It offers semiconductor test systems used for wafer level and device package testing. These chips are used in automotive, communications, consumer, computer, and electronic game applications. The company sells its semiconductor test systems to integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) that integrate the fabrication of silicon wafers into their business, ‘Fabless’ companies that outsource the manufacturing of silicon wafers, ‘Foundries’ that cater to the processing and manufacturing of silicon wafers, and subcontractors that provide test and assembly services for the final packaged devices to both Fabless companies and IDMs. It also provides assembly test and inspection systems comprising in-circuit test systems and imaging inspection systems; military/aerospace test systems and instrumentation; and diagnostic solutions, including original equipment manufacture (OEM) service diagnostics, and vehicle configuration and test solutions consisting of engine control modules and subsystems, such as braking, navigation, and climate control. Teradyne sells its products to the electronics manufacturers of cell phones, servers, computers, Internet switches, automobiles, and military avionics systems.
