The company operates in four segments: Consumer, Network Access, Commercial, and Managed Broadband. The Consumer segment offers a range of voice, video, data, and wireless services and products to residential customers. Its voice services and products include interstate and intrastate-switched message telephone service communications service, and local access services. This segment’s video services and products include a range of video services over broadband cable systems, which include basic cable, digital cable, high-definition television, digital video recorder, premium channel programming, and pay-per-view programming. Its data services and products include high-speed cable modem, dial-up, and fixed wireless Internet access for consumer use. This segment also offers mobile wireless services and fixed wireless local access services using GSM and CDMA technologies under GCI and Alaska DigiTel brand names; sells a range of handsets and personal computer wireless data cards; sells accessories, such as carrying cases, hands-free devices, batteries, battery chargers and other items; and bundled services and products. The Network Access segment offer wholesale voice and data services and products to other common carrier customers. The Commercial segment offers a range of voice, video, directories, private line and private network services, data, managed services, wireless services and products, and bundled services to commercial and governmental customers. The Managed Broadband segment offer Internet access and related services for schools and health organizations. As of December 31, 2007, the company had 100,400 long-distance subscribers, 120,000 local access lines in service, 143,300 basic cable subscribers, 77,300 wireless lines in service, and 96,500 cable modem subscribers.
