This segment primarily focuses on property and aviation business, including property, property catastrophe, marine, energy and aviation, as well as on casualty business comprising excess liability, medical malpractice, professional liability, and workers’ compensation. The company’s Property and Casualty Insurance segment provides excess liability products comprising excess umbrella liability insurance, excess product liability insurance, excess medical malpractice insurance, and excess product recall insurance; professional line products consisting of errors and omissions insurance, employment practices liability insurance, and directors and officers insurance; and property insurance products. Max Capital’s U.S. Excess and Surplus Lines Insurance segment writes excess and surplus lines insurance, a segment of the U.S. insurance market that allows consumers to buy property and casualty insurance through non-admitted carriers. The segment’s brokerage products include property catastrophe, property non-catastrophe, middle market property, and inland marine insurance; and contract binding products comprise property, casualty, inland marine, umbrella, and general liability insurance. Its Life and Annuity Reinsurance segment writes life and annuity reinsurance agreements with respect to individual and group disability, whole life, universal life, corporate owned life, term life, fixed annuities, and annuities in payment and structured settlements.
