| Precision Castparts Corp., together with its subsidiaries, manufactures metal components and products for aerospace, power generation, general industrial, and automotive markets. It operates in three segments: Investment Cast Products, Forged Products, and Fastener Products. The Investment Cast Products segment manufactures aerospace structural castings, aerospace airfoil castings, industrial gas turbine castings, and other investment casting products. Its products are used in aircraft engines, industrial gas turbine engines, airframes, medical prostheses, and other industrial applications. This segment also provides alloys and waxes to other companies with investment casting operations. The Forged Products segment manufactures forged components from titanium and nickel-based alloys for jet engines, including fan discs, compressor discs, turbine discs, seals, spacers, shafts, hubs, and cases. It also provides forged products for use in power plants and oil and gas industry applications; mechanical and structural tubular forged products; forged components for propulsion systems on nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers; and forgings for pumps, valves, and structural applications. The Fastener Products segment offers engineered fasteners, fastener systems, and precision components primarily for aerospace and automotive applications. It also produces refiner plates and screen cylinders for use in the pulp and paper industry; metal-injection-molded and ThixoFormed components for industrial applications; low-pressure sewer systems for residential and commercial applications; monitoring units utilized in the power generation industry; and thread-rolling dies, trimming dies, punches and pins, and steel and carbide forging tools for fastener production. Precision Castparts operates primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1949 and is based in Portland, Oregon. | |||
