The company operates in four segments: Specialty Chemicals, Fine Chemicals, Aerospace Equipment, and Other Businesses. The Specialty Chemicals segment offers ammonium perchlorate used as an oxidizing agent for solid fuel rockets, booster motors, and missiles used in space exploration, commercial satellite transportation, and national defense programs; sodium azide, a chemical used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as a component of a gas generator used in automotive airbag safety systems; and halotron, a chemical used in fire extinguishing systems ranging from portable fire extinguishers to airport firefighting vehicles. The Fine Chemicals segment manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients used in drugs for indications in areas, such as anti-viral, oncology, and central nervous system; registered intermediates; and HIV-related and influenza-combating drugs. The Aerospace Equipment segment manufactures monopropellant and bipropellant propulsion systems and thrusters for satellites and launch vehicles, and bipropellant thrusters for satellites. The Other Businesses segment includes the production of water treatment equipment, such as equipment for odor control and disinfection of water; and real estate operations.
