(NYSE:RCI) Rogers Communications, Inc. operates as a communications and media company in Canada. It operates in three segments: Wireless, Cable, and Media. The Wireless segment offers wireless voice, data, and messaging services. It operates a global system for mobile communications/general packet radio service network, which provides high-speed wireless data services, including mobile access to the Internet, wireless e-mail, digital picture and video transmission, mobile video, music downloading, video calling, and two-way short messaging services. The Cable segment provides cable television, cable telephony, and high-speed Internet access. It also owns and operates cable systems in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland serving cable subscribers. This segment offers digital cable services; local telephone and long distance services; voice and data services; and IP access and application solutions, as well as provides digital video disc, and video game sales and rentals through a chain of video rental stores. The Media segment engages in radio and television broadcasting operations, and consumer and trade publishing operations, as well as offers televised home shopping services. As of December 31, 2007, it operated 52 radio stations; a spiritually-themed television station; a specialty sports television service that provides regional sports programming; a nationally televised shopping service; and The Biography Channel Canada. This segment also holds a 50% interest in Dome Productions, a mobile production and distribution joint venture. The company was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
