Teva Pharmaceutical added women's health portfolio to its specialty pharmaceutical platform through the acquisition of Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. The company also holds a biotechnology platform focused on the development of peptide and protein-based medicines through the ownership of CoGenesys, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. It has a collaboration agreement with Optimata Ltd. to develop solid tumor cancer drugs; a strategic alliance with Kowa Company, Ltd. to establish a generic pharmaceutical company in Japan; and a strategic partnership with the Lonza Group in a joint venture to develop, manufacture, and market a portfolio of biogenerics. The company was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in Petach Tikva, Israel.
