In addition, the company has collaboration agreements with Medtronic, Inc. for the development of drug-device products for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases; Novartis Pharma AG to develop RNAi therapeutics for pandemic flu; University of Texas Southwestern to develop RNAi therapeutics targeting proprotein convertase subtilisn/kexin type 9; and Inex Pharmaceuticals Corporation for the discovery, development, and commercialization of lipid-based nanoparticle formulations for the delivery of RNAi therapeutics, as well as a joint venture with ISIS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of microRNA (miRNA) therapeutics. The company was founded in 2002 and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
