(NYSE:CEG) Constellation Energy Group, Inc. supplies energy products and services to wholesale customers, and retail commercial, industrial, and governmental customers in North America. It operates in three segments: Merchant Energy, Regulated Electric, and Regulated Gas. The Merchant Energy segment owns, operates, and maintains fossil, nuclear, and renewable generating facilities, and holds interests in qualifying facilities, fuel processing facilities, and power projects in the United States. It also provides energy products and services relating to load-serving obligations to wholesale and retail customers; manages contractually controlled physical assets, including generation facilities, natural gas properties, international coal, and freight assets; provides structured transactions and risk management services; and trades energy and energy-related commodities. In addition, this segment engages in the exploration, production, transportation, and storage of natural gas operations; and provides coal sourcing and logistics services for the variable or fixed supply needs of customers. As of December 31, 2007, this segment managed approximately 8,730 megawatts of generation capacity. The Regulated Electric segment purchases, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity in Central Maryland. The Regulated Gas segment engages in the purchase, transportation, and sale of natural gas in Central Maryland. Constellation Energy also designs, constructs, and operates renewable energy, heating, cooling, and cogeneration facilities; heating, cooling, and cogeneration facilities; and provides home improvements, service electric and gas appliances, service heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and indoor air quality systems, as well as provides natural gas marketing to residential customers.
