Its interventional products also include VenaCure products used in endovascular laser procedures to treat superficial venous disease, and Sotradecol, a sclerosing drug to treat varicose veins; percutaneous transluminal angioplasty products to open blocked blood vessels and dialysis access sites using a catheter that has a balloon at its tip; thrombolytic catheters to deliver thrombolytic agents, which are drugs that dissolve blood clots in hemodialysis access grafts, arteries, veins, and surgical bypass grafts; and drainage catheters that percutaneously drain abscesses and other fluid pockets. The company also provides oncology products comprising radio-frequency ablation products that use radiofrequency energy to provide a minimally invasive approach to ablating solid cancerous or benign tumors; tumor embolization products; and laparoscopic resection products. AngioDynamics markets its products through direct sales force and distributor relationships primarily to interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, and interventional and surgical oncologists in the United States, Europe, and Japan. The company was founded in 1988. It was formerly known as A.D., Inc. and changed its name to AngioDynamics, Inc. in 1996. The company is headquartered in Queensbury, New York. |
